Michael CHERNI Sr. 1921 - 1997 SHS 1939

SHERIDAN - Funeral Liturgy Services for Michael Cherni, Sr., 75, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church with Fr. Eugene Sullivan officiating. Vigil for The Deceased Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Cherni, died at the Veterans Administration Medical Center on April 12, 1997.

He was born September 8, 1921, in Acme, the son of Joseph, Sr. and Barbra Hayes Cherni. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Motor Machinist's Mate, Third Class, during WWII.

He was married to Vera Helen Moore on March 13, 1975, in Sheridan.

He enjoyed gardening, hiking, travelling and working on his lathe.

Survivors include his wife of Sheridan; four sons, Michael, Jr., Vernon Gale and Fred Hayes Cherni, all of Sheridan, and Don Lynn of Basin; one sister, Elsie Cherni; six brothers, Joseph, Steve, George, Leslie, Rudolph and William Cherni; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannette Vee Shreve Cherni; and one brother, Andrew Cherni.
