James Madison BURTON II 1920- 1982 SHS 1939

July 10, 1920 - April 22, 1982.

PARKMAN, Wyo. - Jim Madison Burton, II, 61, died Thursday of accidental drowning at his ranch in the Owl Creek Basin.

He was born in Crow Agency, Mont., the son of James Burton and Katie Shane . He was educated in Sheridan, Wyo. and graduated from Sheridan High School.

In August, 1943, he married Isabelle West in Jacksonville, Florida.

He worked for Navy Supply Depot in Utah for several years and for the Department of Energy in Colorado for 30 years. He retired in 1981 and returned to Montana to ranch.

A veteran of World War II, he was an eligible Shriner from Denver, Colo., a 32nd Degree Mason and a 35-year member of Elks Lodge of Boulder, Colo.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James Burton, III, of Broomfield, Colo.; three daughters, Colleen Burton of Denver, Colo., Cinda Burford of Grand Junction, Colo, and Lynne Rosa of Glen-wood Springs, Colo.; and a sister, Nina Mitchell of Billings.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday in Dayton Congregational Church with Bullis Mortuary of Hardin in charge.
