OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - November 12 2003

SHERIDAN - Services will be held at a later date for Sheridan resident Andrew J. "Jack" Banas, 85, who died Nov. 6, 2003, at Sheridan Veterans Administration Medical Center. Interment will be in Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D.

Born Sept., 6, 1918, in Dietz, he was the son of Andrew and Mary (Nickles) Banas.

He joined the U.S. Army in December 1941 and served until his honorable discharge in December 1945. Assigned to the 6th Airdrome Squadron, he was an airplane and engine mechanic and served in Normandy, northern France, the Rhineland and central Europe. He received the American Service, European-African-Middle Eastern Service, World War II Victory and Good Conduct medals.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother, Mary Kumor; and two sisters, Delchia Neighbors and Jerry Banas.
