Florence Virginia "Flossie" BAKER Hammond 1921 - 1996 SHS 1939

SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Florence Virginia Hammond, 74, will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St Peter's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Raymond Clark officiating. Cremation will follow the services with arrangements by Champion Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hammond died at the family cabin in the Big Horn Mountains on Aug. 3, 1996.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1921, in Hardin, Mont, the daughter of Arthur H. and Bessie (Lawler) Baker. On April 20, 1940, she married Thomas Dean Hammond, who survives her. She was a homemaker and was employed in secretarial work for 12 years at Whitney Benefits and for 10 years at the Kalif Shrine.

She enjoyed spending summers at their cabin and wintering in southern climates. They enjoyed traveling to every state and visiting family and friends in their recreational vehicle over a period of 13 years.

She was a member of St Peter's Episcopal Church, Daughters of the Nile and was active in the Republican Party. She especially enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Robert Dean of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; one daughter, Nancy K. Mrvos of New Baden, 111.; her step-mother, Clarice Baker of Union City, Calif.; one sister, Alice Mattson of Sequim, Wash.; one brother, Robert G. Baker of Sun City, Ariz.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be designated to the Kalif Shrine Crippled Children's Travel Fund, in care of the Kalif Shrine, Sheridan 82801.
