Albert "Nips" Dante YORIO Sr. 1919 - 1997 SHS 1938

SHERIDAN - Funeral Liturgy for Albert "Nips" Dante Yorio Sr., 78, will be held on Friday at 10 a.m, at Holy Name Church with the Very Rev. Eugene Sullivan and the Rev. Mr. Joe Kristufek officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Vigil for the Deceased will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Champion Funeral Home with the Rev. James Schumacher officiating.

Mr. Yorio died April 22, 1997, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

He was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Monarch, the son of John and Edith (Rossa) Yorio.

He married Lois Rena Anderson on May 3, 1949, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan.

He attended school in Monarch and Sheridan. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to the Sheridan area and began working for Big Horn Coal Company as a miner.

He was a strong union supporter and a member of the United Mine Workers of America, serving as president of Local 2055 UMWA from 1978 to 1981.

He was very instrumental in constituting the Wyoming Surface Agreement and served on the advisory board for the Wyoming respiratory group.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially spending time with his family and friends.

He loved his grandchildren dearly and looked forward to spending time with them.

He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Yorio and one sister, Rena Yorio.

Survivors include his wife of Sheridan; two daughters, Linda Cook and Lorena Yorio, both of Sheridan; two sons, Albert Yorio Jr. of Bozeman, Mont., and Loren Yorio of Rapid City, S.D.; one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law and eight grandchildren.

Memorials in Mr. Yorio's memory may be designated to Wyoming Respiratory Care Group, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan 82801.
