Eileen Elizabeth WEST Kusel 1920 - 2007 SHS 1938

Eileen Elizabeth West Kusel, 86, passed away July 19, 2007, in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

She was born September 4, 1920 to Howard and Virginia Cotes? West on a homestead near Ucross, Wyoming.

She married Herman Kusel on September 15,1938 in Sheridan, Wyoming. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1988, they celebrated their 50th anniversary, a year before Herman passed away.

She and Herman shared an interesting life. After living in Sheridan many years, they moved to Castle Valley, Utah, but later returned to Sheridan. They enjoyed going to the Mountain Man Rendezvous at Ft. Bridger as well as gun shows in Wyoming and Utah. She acquired an interest in Indian beadwork while attending gun shows. This was one of her many hobbies and became a passion in her later years.

Eileen graduated from Sheridan High School and Sheridan Beauty College. She was a beautician for 30 years in Sheridan.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints holding positions in Primary and Relief Society, her most enjoyable calling was being Relief Society president in the Castle Valley Branch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Kenneth O. West of Panama, Hugh West of Sheridan, and Gene West of Cheyenne, one sister Kay (JO) Neard of Sheridan, and one great grandson.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce (Ken) West of Helena, Montana, two daughters, Mary Kusel of Salt Lake City and Margaret (Donald) Williams of Spanish Fork, Utah; one son, Henry (Mary) Kusel of Sheridan, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
