Alma Helen TEW Martin 1919 - 2001 SHS 1938

STEVENSVILLE - Alma Tew Martin, a longtime Sheridan, Wyo., resident, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Stevensville.

Alma was born on Oct. 2, 1919, in Corvallis, the daughter of the late Ed and Estella Tew. She moved to Sheridan, Wyo., where she completed high school and graduated in 1941 from the nursing program at Sheridan County Memorial Hospital. She worked for Dr. Louis G. Booth until her retirement in 1977.

In 1942, Alma married Arthur Edwin "Pete" Martin and the couple resided in Sheridan until 1980 when they moved to Belgrade. Following the death of her husband she moved to the Bitterroot Valley.

Alma is survived by her daughter Susan Martin Jones of Stevensville, her brother Ed Tew of Orangevale, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her five sisters and two grandchildren.

A service will be held at a later date in Sheridan, Wyo. Cremation has taken place.

The family suggests memorials in memory of Alma be made to the Sheridan College Foundation for the nursing program, P.O. Box 1500, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Arrangements are under the care of Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
