Marcia Alberta STUTSMAN Wake 1920 - 2012 SHS 1938

Marcia Alberta Stutsman Wake, 91, of Cheyenne died Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Davis Hospice Center of Cheyenne.

She was born December 18, 1920 in Sheridan to Benjamin Harrison and Margaret Maude (Newcomb) Stutsman. Marcia graduated from high school in 1938 and attended the Heiman Business College in Sheridan She worked as a medical transcriber for several doctors and hospitals in Sheridan, Cheyenne and Denver.

Marcia married Carl Frederick "Fritz" Wake on May 2, 1942 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Sheridan, Wyoming. Within a month, Carl was inducted into the United States Army. At the end of WWII, they returned to the Sheridan area where ‘Fred' Wake was the manager of Stevens Fryberger & Company until 1957.

Marcia was a long time member of St. Mark's Episcopal church in Cheyenne. More recently she was a member of St. Peter's Apostle and Confessor Anglican Church of Cheyenne. Mrs. Wake had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Reserve Officers Association Ladies Club, and a Girl Scout Troup Leader.

Marcia enjoyed making crafts and kept busy knitting, sewing, quilting and doing needlepoint. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens and was especially fond of red roses. She was a lover of animals and always had a dog.

Mrs. Wake is survived by her brother, George V. Stutsman of Issaquah, Washington; three daughters, Linda Kelley and Diana (Robert) McDougal, all of Cheyenne and Jill Robinson of Sheridan; two grandsons, Matthew and David Kelley, both of Cheyenne; two granddaughters, Jessica Fleenor and Jennifer Austin (Mike Wilkinson), of Cheyenne; four great-grandchildren, Jesse Ellis, A J Kelley, Kellen Kelley, and Tave Jones; a nephew, Rusty Rae (Sheila) of North Bend, Washington and two nieces, Kay Prosser of Aurora, Colorado and Glenda Prosser McLennan (Mac) of Denver, Colorado.

Marcia was preceded in death by her husband; son Jeffrey Wake; parents; sister, Ruth Rae; a granddaughter, Dawn Kelley and two nieces, Susan Stuart and Debbie Miller.

Memorial services will be Saturday, August 11 at St. Peter's Apostle and Confessor Anglican Church, 252 Del Range in Cheyenne with The Rev. Michael Glor officiating. The Anglican Rite of Burial will begin at 10 am. A contemporary celebration of Marcia's life will start at 10:45 am with a reception following in the parish hall. Interment will be in the Sheridan Wyoming cemetery in the Masonic Circle at 9 am Sunday, August 12. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
