Irene Lillian SCHLATTMAN 1920 - 2000 SHS 1938

SHERIDAN - - Memorial services for Irene Lillian Schlattman, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Philip Wilson officiating. Cremation has taken place.

She died May 13, 2000.

She was born June 6, 1920, in Moorcroft, to Fred Ernest and Ora Mildred Fox Schlattman. Her family moved to the area when she was very young from the Shipwheel Ranch near Moorcroft. She attended Murphy Gulch School, Central School and graduated from Sheridan High School. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa and her master's degree from the University of Wyoming.

She taught physical education from 1944 to 1946 in Prineville, Ore.; from 1946 to 1952 in Osage, Iowa; 1952-53 in Laramie; and from 1953 to 1979 at Sheridan High School.

She enjoyed photography, leatherwork, cabinetry, carpentry, gardening, fishing, horseback riding, bowling and cooking.

She was a member of the National Education Association and the Wyoming Education Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Vernon.

Survivors include her aunt, Vena Allred, her uncle, Park Fox, both of Sheridan; two nephews of Vallejo, Calif.; numerous cousins; and many friends and former students.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheridan High School physical education department, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan 82801.
