Joseph "Joe" Stanley PATZ 1918 - 1998 SHS 1938

SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Joseph "Joe" Stanley Patz, 79, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Eugene Sullivan and the Rev. Joe Kristufek officiating. Vigil services will be today at 7 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home.

He died July 12, 1998, at his home.

He was born Sept. 22, 1918, in Monarch, to Michael Patz and Mary Koscielniak Patz. He attended school in Monarch and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1938.

He served in the U.S. Army Infantry and after the war married Margaret Welch on Aug. 10, 1949.

For 12 years, he was employed by the Sheridan Wyoming Coal Company. After the mine closed, he worked for Montana Dakota Utilities Company as a backhoe operator before retiring in 1982.

He had a big garden every summer and enjoyed going to the mountains, fishing, hunting and golfing. He enjoyed being with family and friends.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Quarterback Club, Sheridan Elks Lodge No. 520, Electrical Workers Union and Holy Name Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sophia Bearrow and one brother, Stanley Patz.

Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Deanna "De De" Patz; a brother, Frank Patz; a sister, Mary Smith, all of Sheridan; five nephews and two nieces.
