OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - March 30, 2001

SHERIDAN - Graveside services for Helen M. Sorvik, 80, will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

She died March 27, 2001, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

She was born May 1, 1920, in Sheridan, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Lyle) McCoy.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan and attended business college in Sheridan.

She worked as a secretary for the city of Sheridan for several years.

She married Jack Sorvik in Cheyenne. They lived in Sheridan and were later divorced.

She owned and operated an antique and gift shop until she retired because of her health.

She was a member of First Christian Church.

She loved cats and enjoyed sewing, gardening and raising flowers.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kelly Sorvik.

Survivors include a brother, Carl McCoy and a sister, Esther Stevison, both of Sheridan; three nieces; and a nephew.
