SHERIDAN -- A private family memorial service for Betty M. Ruff, 86, will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

She died Dec. 27, 2006, at Westview Health Care Center.

She was born April 19, 1920, in Casper, to Clifford M. and Marie MacCatherine. She graduated from Sheridan High School.

She married Kenneth W. Ruff on Aug. 2, 1941, in Sheridan.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church, where she played in the handbell choir for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile.

She enjoyed knitting and handiwork and loved music and reading.

Survivors include her husband of Sheridan, her daughter, Nancy R. Fowkes of Danville, Calif.; two sons, David K. Ruff of Sheridan and James B. Ruff of Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials in her name to the First United Methodist Church Handbell Choir, in care of Tara Keep, 1st Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, 82801.
