Harold Grinnell, 93 of Sheridan, WY died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Harold was born June 4, 1917, in Sheridan to Lawrence & Elda (Fleischer) Grinnell.

Harold grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan. He attended the University of Wyoming until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII where he served in North Africa.

After the service, Harold returned to Sheridan where he married Mary Martin Tunks on September 12, 1944.

He worked as a carpenter for several construction companies for a time. He then went to work at the VA Medical Center as a carpenter and retired from there in June of 1979.

Harold was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Elks Lodge #520, Masonic Lodge #8, Kalif Shrine, Scottish Rite Bodies, Kalif Klowns and the Oriental Band.

He collected model trains, planes, automobiles and other stuff. Harold enjoyed taking pictures at family gatherings, growing tomatoes and telling interesting and funny stories.

He was also active in the local Republic Party.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife Mary.

Harold is survived by his son Stuart (Eleanor) of Cheyenne, WY, daughters Susan (Wayne) Hicks of Wheatland, WY and Sara (Loren) Fuller of Sheridan; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00am on Saturday (April 2nd) from First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Doug Melius officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Masonic #8 section with Masonic rites by officers of the Lodge. Military rites are by the American Legion and Wyo. National Guard. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials may benefit the First Presbyterian Church.
