Retired oil field worker Harold "Grin"' Griffith. 75, of Apple Valley died Tuesday of heart failure at St. Mary Desert Valley Hospital.

Griffith, a native of Sheridan, Wyo., lived in Apple Valley 3 1/2 years. He worked as a oil field machinist.

He was a member of the Elks and the Signal Hill Police Officers Association and the Petroleum Club.

He served in the U.S. Navy and the Petroleum Club.

Survivors include his wife, Shirlee; two sons. Gary V. of Wrightwood and Mark C. of Santa Barbara; his daughter, Candace Nordee of Cypress; and one grandchild.

No services are planned.

Victor Valley Mortuary in Victorville is directing.
