SHERIDAN -- Graveside services for former Sheridan resident Willard W. Given, 87, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating.

He died May 2, 2007, in Greeley, Colo.

He was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Sheridan, to Warren B. and Neil (Warriner) Given. He grew up and attended schools in Sheridan.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.

He married Geraldine Beck on Dec. 29, 1943, in Sheridan.

He was a professional mechanic and electrical engineer. He went into private practice in 1956, doing work in heating, plumbing and electrical designs and lived in Salina, Kan., for one year; St. Louis, Mo., for 40 years and Cheyenne for 15 years.

He was a member of the Missouri Athletic Club, St. Louis chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, the St. Louis Engineers Club, American Consulting Engineer's Council and Rotary International.

Survivors include one son, James Given of Morrison, Colo.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 2006.

Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
