Died Monday, November 6, 2000, in the V.A. Medical Center, Sheridan

Born April 30, 1918, in Sheridan to Percy & Anna (Hoffman) Chase

Fred grew up and graduated high school in Sheridan where he played saxophone in the band and played music all his life.

He graduated from Aviation Technician school in Cheyenne, WY, and was among the first technicians to work at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, UT. He worked in Ogden until going into the Air Force during WWII. After the service, he returned to Ogden to work for the government and later transferred to San Bernadino, CA, for several years. Fred was transferred to Japan for a few years and then returned to work in Kansas, Georgia and Ohio where he retired.

After retiring, he moved to California for a few years until returning to Sheridan in the early 1970's. Fred married Mary Wright in 1978 in New Hampshire. They lived in Sheridan and Mary died in 1983. In June 1984, he married Charlotte Dickinson in Glenrock, WY. They lived in Sheridan.

Fred played saxophone in bands wherever he lived. In Sheridan he played in several band including the Collegians and the Thunder Mountain Band. Fred also enjoyed playing golf at every opportunity. He was a member of Elks Lodge #520.

He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, Jesse Ekis and one brother, Edward.

CREMATION WILL FOLLOW A PRIVATE VIEWING. GRAVESIDE COMMITTAL OF CREMAINS WILL BE 11:00AM ON MONDAY (NOV. 13TH) IN SHERIDAN ELKS CEMETERY WITH THE REV. SCOTT LEE OFFICIATING.
