Jeanne Marie BARKEY Berry 1920 - 1995 SHS 1938

SHERIDAN - Graveside services for Jeanne M. Berry, 75, will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Elks Cemetery by the Rev. Ray Clark. Mrs. Berry died Sept 16, 1995, at Westview Health Care Center.

She was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Sheridan, the daughter of Reuben R. and Vivian (Church) Barkey. She was raised and educated in Sheridan.

In January of 1965 she married Francis E. Berry. The couple lived in Vallejo, Calif.; Chinhae, Korea; and Makakilo City, Hawaii; until Mr. Berry retired from the U.S. Navy. Mrs. Berry and her husband then lived in Spokane, Wash., and Medical Lake, Wash., before returning to Sheridan in October of 1976. Mr. Berry died in 1982.

Mrs. Berry served as a government office employee at the Kodiak Naval Station in Alaska, the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in California, the NAD Calibration Laboratory in Hawaii, the Fairchild AFB in Washington, and the VA Medical Center in Sheridan. She retired in 1980.

Mrs. Berry was a member of the Sheridan County Historical Society, the Ft Phil Kearny Bozeman Trail Association, the Pioneers of SheridanJohnson Counties, Sheridan County Centennial Committee, Trails End Historic Center, and was a Chamber of Commerce volunteer.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Barkey and Penny Maret; her parents, and a daughter, Ruth Victoria.

Survivors include a daughter, Eula-Marie Modory of Kenosha, Wis.; a son, Delmar W. Miles of Richmond, Calif.; two stepchildren, Francis E. Berry, II, U.S. Navy and Clara Lyn Hansen of Carnation, Wash.; three sisters, Marjorie Anderson of Casper, Roberta Smith of Tucson, Ariz., and Patricia Hoffman of Longmont, Colo.; two brothers, John C. Barkey of Commerce City, Colo., and Ralph R. Barkey of Rohnert Park, Calif. Also surviving are four grandsons, one great-grandchild and five step-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Sheridan County Historical Society in care of Myrna Grimm, 999 West Works, Sheridan.
