OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - September 06 2003

SHERIDAN - Memorial services for Sheridan resident Delchia Lonabaugh Neighbors, 83, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Ray Clark and Fr. David Duprey. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in the Elks Cemetery.

She died Sept. 2, 2003, at Sheridan Manor.

Born April 16, 1920, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Nichols-Kumor) Banas; and was raised by Marie Swaner. She graduated from the Chicago Art Institute.

On May 15, 1953, she married Robert Andrew Neighbors.

In 1963, at the 25th anniversary of the National Federation of Republican Women in Chicago, she modeled a ball gown worn by First Lady Mrs. Benjamin Harrison. She also modeled it in Salt Lake City for a Ballet Guild benefit.

She taught tole painting for 20 years and donated several pieces to the Senior Center for benefit auctions; and was an American Red Cross volunteer for 30 years.

Her interests included gardening, hunting, and fishing.

Survivors include her daughter, Lesa Raths-Whitaker, and her husband, Michael, of Sheridan; a granddaughter; and a brother, Andrew Jack Banas of Sheridan.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a sister, Jerry Banas.
