Lyndon Eugene Schwamb, 92, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 after a prolonged illness.

Lyndon was born On November 21, 1918, to Phillip and Louise Copeland Schwamb in Nevada, Missouri. The family moved to Sheridan when he was eighteen months old. He attended grade school and high school in Sheridan, before enrolling in the University in Laramie, and also the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, making top grades in both schools. He joined the Navy Air Force, serving four years as a flyer, being very proud of his service. After his discharge, he married Vanna Harris with whom he spent 63 years.

Together they ranched on Clear Creek in Wyoming and later north of Red Lodge, Montana. They moved back to the Sheridan area in 1952 when Lyndon began working at the Wyoming Highway Department as a n engineer. He retired in 1980.

Lyndon knew the Big Horn mountains as a hunter and was an avid expert fly fisherman. After retiring he returned to his lifelong love of woodworking, crafting many beautiful pieces of furniture.

Lyndon was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Vanna, two sons, Curtis, wife Linda, of Sheridan, and Douglas, wife Connie, of Twin Falls, ID, two granddaughters, and two great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Lyndon can be made to the Trout Unlimited, care of Tony Lecholat, 1667 N. Mountain View Drive, Sheridan, WY 82801 or to the donor’s choice.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
