OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - March 11 2005

Former Sheridan-area resident Dorothy Irene McPhillamey, 86, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Aspen Meadows Retirement Home in Billings.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with burial in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Born to Wilber and Elizabeth Olson Martin on April 27, 1918, in Crawford, Neb., she graduated from Sheridan High School in 1937.

She married James W. Duncan, and they divorced. She then married Wallace McPhillamey in 1960. He died in 1978.

Mrs. McPhillamey worked at several retail stores in Sheridan, retiring from the J.C. Penney store after 30 years. She moved to Billings in 2002 to be near family when ill health started to limit her activity.

She belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for many years and served a term as state president. She enjoyed dancing, travel to South America, Alaska, and Hawaii, and watching the Denver Broncos.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur, a grandson, Scott, and a granddaughter, Sandee.

Survivors include two sons, James Duncan of Billings and Richard Duncan of Sarasota, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may benefit St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Shriners Hospital, or a charity of one's choice.
