Donald Wallace IRWIN 1919 - 1996 SHS 1937

CODY - Funeral services for Donald Wallace Irwin, 77, will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mallard Funeral Home in Cody. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Irwin died March 21, 1996, at West Park Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born March 5, 1919, in Sheridan, the son of Wallace and Belva Ruse Irwin. He married Frances D. Newton on Sept. 14, 1941, in Sheridan.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The couple moved to Cody 50 years ago. He held a number of jobs there before buying the Post Office Store. He retired in 1983.

Mr. Irwin was a member of the Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge and First Presbyterian Church. He served on the Cody City Council for 10 years, the Planning and Zoning Board and the Riverside Cemetery Board.

He was an avid woodworker.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Vickie Allere Scott of Naples, Fla., a son, Alan Donald Irwin of Bellevue, Colo.; two half-sisters, Bessie Jean Green and Janet Wilson, both of Sheridan; and four grandchildren.
