OBITUARIES - THE CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - July 28, 2003

SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Arvada resident Murel Jean Packard, 82, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Champion-Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan by the Rev. Martin Rostad.  Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, July 28.

She died July 23, 2003, at Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo.

Born May 11, 1921, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of James and Erma (Minster) Enochs; was raised on the family ranch south of Arvada; and graduated from Sheridan High School.  She then attended business college in Denver.
On May 29, 1939, she married Wayne Packard on the family ranch.

They ranched there until moving to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1948 and then to Cody. The couple returned to the family ranch in 1967 and remained there.

She gave piano lessons to the neighbor children for many years; loved music; and played various instruments, including piano and violin.  Her interests included animals, poetry, storytelling, and having company over for dinner.

Survivors include her son, Gary Packard of Arvada; daughter, Wanda Hope of Sheridan; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
