Lifelong Sheridan resident John Dregoiw, 90, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Champion-Ferries Funeral Home. Private burial will follow, with a reception at the Elks Club.

Born Aug. 12, 1918, of Romanian parents in Sheridan, he owned and operated the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. until he sold it in 1968.

He went to work for First Interstate Bank (then the Bank of Commerce) as vice president of the Real Estate Department until retirement.

He came out of retirement and worked for Rocky Mountain Federal for four years as a mortgage loan originator.

In 1980, he obtained a real estate broker's license and worked at Carroll Realty.

He was active with the Elks, where he was awarded special recognition for running the bingo operations.

He was a member of the Shrine, an avid golfer, and belonged to the country club for many years. He won four Wyoming state golf championships and six other golf tournaments.

He served on the school board for four consecutive terms.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Dregoiw Johnson of Chugwater and Judy Dregoiw of Sheridan; a son, Mickey Dregoiw of Sheridan; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
