OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - June 5, 2001

Viewing for Harold W. Bosley, 81, of Sheridan is 2-7 p.m. today at Champion Ferries Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Heine officiating.  Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion and National Guard.

Mr. Bosley died Sunday, June 3, 2001, in Sheridan VA Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Sheridan to Alvin and Elizabeth (Roberts) Bosley. He attended Sheridan schools and played football.  He left school in the 11th grade to work at Bondi Brothers grocery store to help his brother through school.

He enlisted in the Navy the day after Pearl Harbor and served on the USS American Legion Troop Transport until his discharge in 1945.

He married Harriett Winkler Oct. 22, 1946, in Sheridan.

He worked for the CB&Q Railroad as brakeman and conductor until 1967, when he retired. He worked part time for Top Typewriter and volunteered many hours for a golf tournament to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Society.  He received many awards for his volunteer services.

He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and a retired member of United Transportation Union.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Roy and Clifford, and by two sisters, Nora Vielhauer and Claudine Hoiten.

Survivors include two sons, John of Sheridan and James P. of Sioux Falls, S.D.
