Yorkie WALTERS 1917 - 2012 SHS 1936

Funeral services for Yorkie Walters, 94 year old Buffalo man who passed away quietly at his home early Thursday morning, in the company of his daughters, will be held, Monday , April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. from St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Buffalo with Father Douglas Wasinger . Visitation will be held from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery on Monday at 3:00 p.m. A short reception will be held in Onderdonk Hall following the funeral and prior to the graveside.

Donations in Mr. Walters' memory may be made to the Susie Bowling Lawrence Hospice in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.

Yorkie Arnold Walters was born on Oct 17, 1917 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Karl and Jeanette Walters. He grew up on the family ranch on Clear Creek and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1936.

After high school he attended trade school for carpentry in Long Beach, California and returned to apprentice in Buffalo for the next four years.

Yorkie joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during WWII as a Staff Sergeant for the 42nd Bomb Group in the South Pacific Theater in the Solomon Islands.

He was married on December 27, 1945 in Sheridan to Barbara Bent and they made their home in Sheridan and later on the family ranch on Clear Creek in Buffalo. Barbara passed away in April of 1964 and he later married Eva Arrison and they made their home in Buffalo.

Yorkie was an accomplished builder, dedicating his entire career in the Buffalo area until his retirement.

Eva passed away on April 18th, 1992 and Yorkie continued living in Buffalo until the time of his death.

Yorkie was a past member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and a life member of the Elk's Lodge in Sheridan.

He is survived by two daughters; Jill Burleson and her husband Paul of Hartville, Ohio and Joan Walters of Kensington, California; one stepdaughter Sylvia Gregory and her husband Ted of Kingwood, Texas; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both his wives, one son, Nick Walters and one sister, Fritzi Johnson.
