OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - July 29 2005

SHERIDAN -- The funeral for Sheridan resident Nellie Mae Stuka, 87, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan by Pastor Brian Johnson. Interment will follow in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today, July 29, at the funeral home.

She died July 26, 2005, at Sheridan County Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 4, 1917, in Dietz, she was the daughter of Anna (Wierzbicki) and Joe Stuka. After graduating from high school, she received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Wyoming.

She was an English teacher for more than 25 years in Worland and retired in 1979.

Her interests included reading, working crossword puzzles, and playing cards. She was a member of Sheridan Heritage Center, Sheridan County Historical Society, AARP, Sheridan Women's Club, Retired Teachers' Association, and Kappa.

Survivors include four sisters, Wanda Godawski of Chicago, Stella Gorzalka of Sheridan, and Henrietta Sutphin and Mary Weber and her husband of Casper; brother, Walter Stuka of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Anne Stuka; and three brothers, Joe, Henry and Carl Stuka.
