Former Sheridan resident Esther L. (Grimshaw) Meredith, 92, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, in San Jose, Calif.

Cremation arrangements were with the Neptune Society in San Jose. Local burial of cremains is with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 18, 1916, to William C. and Ragnhild Grimshaw, she was the second of eight children. She grew up in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Meredith; a brother, Russell; and three sisters, Grace, Lyla and Fern.

Survivors include two sisters, Jean Brent of San Jose, Calif., and Nancy Hebrew of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a brother, Robert Grimshaw of Modesto, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
