SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Helen Marie Godwin, 77, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Funeral Home by the Rev. Doug Goodwin. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Mrs. Godwin died April 26, 1996, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

She was born Feb. II, 1919, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of William F. and Laura (Nichols) Copple. She lived most of her lifetime in the Sheridan area.

On Oct. 25, 1939, she married Weldon E. Godwin at Hardin, Mont.

Mrs. Godwin was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, playing bingo, and sewing. She was past president of the Eagles No. 186 Auxiliary; twice past president of the VFW No. 1560 Auxiliary; twice past president of the Senior Region of Moose Lodge Auxiliary; Most Excellent Chief of the Knights of Pythias Auxiliary; past president Of the American Legion Auxiliary; a member of Friendship 51 Chapter of Eastern Star; and vice president of Amaranth.

Mrs. Godwin was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and an infant son.

Survivors include her husband, Weldon Godwin Sr., and two sons, Thomas Godwin and Weldon Godwin Jr., all of Sheridan; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
