Joan CHURCHILL Hunter 1918 - 2004 SHS 1936

Joan Churchill Hunter born July 21, 1918 in Sheridan, Wyoming, died April 21, 2004 of natural causes in the home of her daughter in Dallas, Texas.

She was the daughter of Harry and Gladys Churchill, wife of 52 years to William James D. Hunter, who preceded her in death, mother of James D. Hunter, deceased 1967 Vietnam, Joan H. Cooper, and Randolph C. Hunter of Mobile Alabama.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Thomas G. Cooper, II and wife Caroline, and Kristina Cooper Casanova, husband Carlos.

Joan was also preceded in death by sisters Harriet Neighbors and Jean Gay, both of Sheridan, Wyoming.

As a teenager growing up in Sheridan, Joan Churchill Hunter enjoyed the fame of being Rodeo Queen in 1938.

In 1940, she married William James D. Hunter and moved to Arlington, Virginia. She and her husband, Jim, retired to Sheridan in 1974 where they enjoyed their Sheridan friends and family. At that time, their son Randy worked for the YMCA and was active in many programs.

Joan's life was rich with the blessings of love, family, and friends. She is deserving of the peace and happiness of God's eternal rest.

A private memorial service will be held at Transfiguration Episcopal Church of Dallas, Texas.
