OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - February 13, 2001

Margaret Champion Kirk, 82, of Sheridan died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church.  A reception will be at the church after the service.  Burial will be in the Elks Section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kirk was born May 4, 1918, to Sheridan pioneers Charles and Anna Champion.  She was raised in Sheridan, spending her summers at the family cabin in Story.  She attended Linden, Central and Hill schools, graduated from Sheridan High School and Stephens College and attended the University of Wyoming.

She married Percy B. Kirk in 1941 in a ceremony conducted in the
drawing room of Champion Funeral Home.

She was an active member of P.E.O., Chapter AM, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was a member of Colonial Dames, a board member of Heritage Towers, a member of the Genealogy Society of Sheridan and served as chair of the Governor's Committee on Aging.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sheridan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Mervin.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Forister of Loveland, Colo.; two sons, Stuart of Santa Fe, N.M., and Pat of Gillette; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
