SHERIDAN -- Memorial services for Lydia Miller, 90, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheridan with the Rev. Phil Wold officiating. Cremation has taken place.

She died Feb. 26, 2008, at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper.

She was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Hysham, Mont., the daughter of Jacob and Katherine (Zier) Miller.

She graduated from Sheridan County High School in 1935 and Eastern Montana Normal School in 1939.

She taught five years in a one-room school in Montana and then worked as a telegraph operator for Western Union for 30 years.

After retiring, she returned to Sheridan to live with her sister, Edith Dvorak.

She moved to Casper in 1999 to live with her niece, Kathy Mortimer.

She loved writing letters, reading, gardening and sewing.

She was a very loving aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She never married.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheridan.

Survivors include four nieces, Loran Worswick of Pahoa, Hawaii, Maxie Heagy of Sheridan, Kathy Mortimer of Casper and Beverly Medlock of Westminster, Colo.; and five nephews, David Towns of Tennessee, Max Towns of Mesquite, Nev., Jim Dvorak, Spring, Texas, Bill Dvorak of Nathrop, Colo., and Richard Miller of Montana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Henry, Jack, Buck, George and Fred Miller; four sisters, Kate Marker, Mary Smith, Maybelle Martin and Edith Dvorak; two nephews and one niece.

Memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 Crescent Dr., Sheridan, 82801.

Bustard's Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of local arrangements.
