Bernard James Marron, 92, of Sheridan, WY died Sunday, March 22, 2009, in the V.A. Medical Center, Sheridan.

Bernard was born on December 16, 1916, in Sheridan to John B. & Rose (Rodgers) Marron.

A lifelong Catholic, he was baptized by Father Duffy at Holy Name Catholic Church. Bernard attended Holy Name School and Kirby Public School. He lived in Sheridan, Kirby and Alliance, Nebraska, graduating from Sheridan High in the class of 1935.

Appreciative of Wyoming's natural resources, he loved the challenge of a good hunt and was an avid and successful fisherman who knew every "hole" in waters nearby.

Bernard began working for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy RR in June of 1935.

He married Alice (James) on February 4, 1939 they settled on Loucks Street and had nearly 62 years together before Alice passed away in November of 2000. Together they raised their family of six with a lot of hard work, fun and laughter with a sometimes strong (if perhaps necessary) mix of discipline.

Bernard joined the Seabees Unit of the US Navy in 1943 working his entire enlistment as a welder, in New Orleans and San Diego but for the most part on ABSD Dry Dock in the south pacific near Bora Bora. He received two commendations for actions during WWII. After the war he returned to work at the railroad, retiring in 1967. He then worked for the City of Sheridan at the then new water treatment facility for several years.

Bernard is also preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Agnes Charles, a brother, John Thomas, two children, John Marron and Marjorie Marron Arbogast and grandson, Jeffrey Harris.

Bernard is survived by his sons James of Pecos, NM, Robert of Sheridan and Richard of Laramie, WY; daughter Jean (Lynn) Harris of Green Valley, MO; grandson Craig (LeDena) Arbogast; granddaughters Carol (Rob) Davis, Kim (Jason) Ellis, Jean (Mark) Arbogast and Amy Marron; great granddaughters Vivian (Ben) Davis, Taylor Harris and Leslie Arbogast; great grandsons Corey (Sara) Arbogast, Chauncey (Ruth) Arbogast, Rick Davis, Marron Harris, Christopher Ellis, Austin Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Wendell Arbogast, Everett Arbogast and Dereck Arbogast: great great granddaughter Madison Davis.

Cremation has taken place. Vigil service will be 7:00pm on Thursday (Mar.26th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00am on Friday with Father Thomas Ogg as Celebrant. Inurnment of his cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
