SHERIDAN -- Funeral services for Clifford Hardy MacCatherine, 84, will
be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home with George Tellez
officiating.
Interment will follow in the Elks Cemetery.
He died April 23, 2001, at Sheridan Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was born April 8, 1917, in Harrison, Ark., the son of Clifford and Jessica (Briscoe) MacCatherine. He graduated from Sheridan High School and was known for his athletic abilities, especially in basketball.
In 1939, he married Maxine Murdock. They were the parents of three children and later divorced.
On June 19, 19944 he joined the Navy and served in the Asiatic-Pacific area as a radioman on an aircraft carrier. He was honorably discharged Dec. 9, 1945.
On Dec. 29, 1952, he married Phyllis Olson in Sheridan.
In later years, he and his wife enjoyed spending time with their dog.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks, a member of the UTU RR Brotherhood and a 50-year member of American Legion Post No. 7.
Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; a son, Richard MacCatherine and his wife of Roundup, Mont.; two daughters and their husbands, Peggy Buckley of Sheridan and Pat Cowgill of Guthrie, Okla.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Jane Adams of Sheridan and Ann Sparks of Casper; a sister, Betty Ruff and her husband of Sheridan; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie; and three brothers, Stuart, Merwin and Richard.
