Lucille Augusta (Kersting) Auda, 88, of Story died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan, according to her family.

At her request, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned.

Mrs. Auda was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Munden, Kan., to William and Amelia Kersting. The family moved to Sheridan when she was a child, and she attended multiple one-room schools in the area, as her parents worked on several ranches. She was a 1935 graduate of Sheridan High School and worked for The Sheridan Press.

She married Alexander Andrew Auda on Aug. 4, 1937, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan. They lived in Sheridan for several years before moving to California.

Mr. Auda died in 1986.

Mrs. Auda moved to Story in 2002 to be with her daughter and son-in-law.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son and one granddaughter.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Grady of Story and Nancy Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Sheridan Senior Citizens Center.
