OBITUARY - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - December 31 2005

SHERIDAN -- The funeral for Sheridan resident Steve Cherni, 89, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 30, at Kane Funeral Home of Sheridan by the Rev. Ron Stolcis. Interment will follow in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

He died Dec. 24, 2005, at Sheridan Veterans' Affairs Medical Center.

Born Jan. 7, 1916, in Acme, he was the son of Barbara (Hays) and Joseph Cherni.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 412th Air Service Squadron and was stationed near Calcutta, India. He was honorably discharged in April 1946.

He enjoyed photography and working with livestock.

Survivors include two brothers, Rudolph and William Cherni of Sheridan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Andy, Joe, Mike, George and Leslie; and a sister, Elsie.
