Loren H. Butler, 93, of Sheridan, WY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan.

Loren was born August 20, 1917, in Sheridan to Cleo Hiram & Maie Grace (Whitton) Butler. Loren grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan. He attended and graduated from William Jewel College.

After college, he returned to Sheridan and worked for Riley Motor Co.

Loren married Dorothy “Dot” Shireman on March 21, 1942, in Billings, MT.

He went to work for Wyoming Automotive and was transferred to Worland, Riverton and then Denver.

In 1961, the Butler family returned to Sheridan and Loren opened NAPA Auto Parts with Willie Morris. Loren retired in 1980.

Loren and Dot enjoyed traveling including winters in Mesa, AZ. Dot died in 2008.

Loren was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and had been a member of the Vestry for many years. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #8, Kalif Shrine, Scottish Rite Bodies, Kalif Klowns, R. O. J. Court #135 as well as Lions Club and a life member of Elks Lodge #520.

An avid reader, Loren enjoyed the mountains and loved his family and helping people. Loren devoted many years to caring for his wife.

Loren is survived by his daughters Kathy Bosworth & husband Scott of Sheridan and Mary Atter & husband Todd of Story, WY; two granddaughters Laurie Arguello & husband Mark of Albuquerque, NM and Julie Hall of Sheridan; great-grandchildren Christian, Meghan, Christopher, Jami, Dalton and Nikolas; sister Maurine Straub of Sandestin, FL; sister-in-law Ernestine Shireman of Arlington, TX; and four nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 11:00am on Monday (Dec. 20th) from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Meyer and Rev. John Craft officiating. Inurnment will be in the Columbarium in St. Peter’s Chapel. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials may benefit Shrine Children’s Travel Fund, Box K, Sheridan.
