OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNNE - February 15 2005

SHERIDAN -- Funeral services for Sheridan resident Marjorie (Penson) Collins, 88, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 15, at First Christian Church in Sheridan by the Rev. Douglas Goodwin. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

She died Feb. 11, 2005, at her home.

Born Aug. 30, 1916, on the Big Bend Ranch in Kirby, Mont., she was the daughter of Tom and Mabel (Barton) Penson; was raised on the ranch; and attended Big Bend and Kirby elementary schools. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1934.

On Nov. 8, 1937, she married Byron Collins in Buffalo.

They ranched on Lower Piney Creek.

After she was 50, she attended Sheridan College and worked at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County as a certified nursing assistant. Her husband preceded her in death in 1989, after 52 years of marriage.

She moved into Sheridan in 1997.

An accomplished horsewoman, she enjoyed cooking; history; the outdoors; and, especially, being with her family. She was a member of First Christian Church and Piney Woman's Club.

Survivors include her son, Bruce Collins of Ranchester; daughter, Ky Dixon of Big Horn; sister, Clara Owen of Ranchester; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Greg Penson; and a sister, Marie Turley.
