OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - August 3 2005

SHERIDAN -- Memorial Mass for former Sheridan resident Thomas J. Killworth, 89, will be celebrated at 10 a.m.Thursday, Aug. 4, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan by Fr. Ron Stolcis.

Cremation has taken place.

He died peacefully on July 15, 2005, after suffering multiple injuries in a three-vehicle accident on June 28, 2005, in Washington state. At the time of his death, he was being cared for in Bethany at Pacific in Everett, Wash.

His wife, Shirley, was injured in the same accident and died on June 28.

Born June 16, 1916, in Glendive, Mont., he was the son of Candace (Murphy) and Logan Killworth; spent his early years in Glendive and Sheridan; and graduated from Sheridan High School.

He began studying forestry at the University of Wyoming but World War II interrupted his studies. He became a member of the U.S. Army Air Force's 5th Fighter Squadron, 52nd Fighter Group. After his honorable discharge at the end of the war, he returned to help his father in Sawyers Grocery in Miles City, Mont.

He married Georgia Shy in Miles City. She preceded him in death in 1988, after 41 years of marriage.

For many years he lived in Miles City and Glendive, where he was employed by F.T. Reynolds Co. In 1968, he and his brother, Roger "Pat" Killworth, established a wholesale grocery business, Warehouse Market, in Sheridan.

He was a long-time member of Kalif Shrine, Elks USA, and the Lions Club.

In 2001, he married Shirley Peters Sanders.

They enjoyed their winter home in Queen Valley, Ariz., and summer home in Story.

He was known for his twinkling eyes and mischievous grin; and loved life and people.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Vicki Zimmerman of Snohomish, Wash., and Konnie Herron of Show Low, Ariz.; three granddaughters; a great-grandson; brother, Pat; and other extended family members.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Dave; and a sister, Kathleen.

Memorials may be made to Shriners' Children's Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
