SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Sheridan resident Jemma Carmella Bumbaca, 89, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan by reader Richard Mumma. Interment will follow in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Dec. 3.
She died Nov. 30, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Born March 11, 1914, in Carneyville, she was the daughter of Nick and Fortunata (Marzano) Bumbaca; started school in Kleenburn; then moved into Sheridan and attended John S. Taylor Elementary School. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1934.
She helped in the family store, Economy Grocery; and clerked for the New York Store. In February 1947, she became the manager of Alamo Liquor Store, Sheridan County's first retail liquor store.
A member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, she enjoyed reading and doing Bible lessons; listening to concert music; and going out to lunch with family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Professional Business Women's Association.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Mary T. Luster, Helen Webb, Mary E. Bumbaca, Rose Carbone and Josephine Montegna; and two brothers, Dominick and Bruno Montegna.
