OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - July 30, 2002

SHERIDAN - Graveside services for Sheridan resident Waldo "Irish" Leach, 87, will be conducted at 10 a.m. today in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery by the Rev. Ray Clark.

He died July 26, 2002, at Westview Health Care Center.

Born Oct. 5, 1914, in Sheridan, he was the son of George and Eurie (Beans) Leach; was raised and educated in Sheridan; and graduated from Sheridan High School.

He then went to Bremerton, Wash., and worked in the shipyards for two years during World War II

Returning to Sheridan, he married Doris "Mickey" Brown on April 19, 1947.

He went to work as an apprentice at MDU and was a pipe-fitter-serviceman for 43 years, retiring Feb. 1, 1979.

He enjoyed fishing and fly-tying; bowling; and square-round and ballroom-dancing.  He tied many flies for Ritz Sporting Goods store in Sheridan and the Sport's Lure in Buffalo.

Survivors include his wife of Sheridan: son, Rick Leach, and his wife of Sheridan; daughter, Lou Ann Helmes of Lander; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
