OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - October 30, 2002

SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Sheridan resident Helen Slater, 87, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home by the Revs. Bob Miller and Ray Clark.

She died Oct. 28, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Born Jan. 7, 1915, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of Mike and Hedwik (Rucki) Krezelok.  Following graduation from high school, she worked for the school system as a school cook.

On Oct. 17, 1936, she married Gerald W. Slater in Sheridan.

She continued to work as a school cook for many years while raising her children.

Her interests included gardening; crafts; quilting; cooking, especially baking; flowers; spending time with her family; and socializing with friends and family.  She loved to dance in her younger years.

A past 4-H club leader, she was a member of the B.P.O. Does, Rebekahs, Royal Neighbors, Cherri Chix Homemakers Club, and First Congregational Church.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years of Sheridan; two daughters, Shirley Schilling and her husband of Casper and Judy Engle of Wheat Ridge, Colo; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Ellenwood of Banner and Mary Miech of Sheridan; and two brothers, Frank Krezelok of Banner and Joseph Krezelok of Greybull.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson; a nephew; a niece; a brother, Mike "Bill" Krezelok; two sisters, Hedwik Miech and Ann Fairbank; and grandparents.
