OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - February 8, 2003

SHERIDAN - Services for Sheridan resident Edith Mae (Kimmel) Collins, 87, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at First Christian Church in Sheridan by the Rev. Douglas Goodwin.  Burial will be in the Elks Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today, Feb. 8, and Sunday, Feb. 9, at Champion-Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan.

She died Feb. 5, 2003, in Rapid City, S.D.

Born May 14, 1915, on a homestead near Young's Creek, Mont., she was raised there and attended Pearl School on Young's Creek.  She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1933.

On Sept. 16, 1933, she married George "Joe" Collins in Hardin, Mont.  He preceded her in death in 1984, after 50 years of marriage.

She worked at the high school until the couple bought the 88 Cent Store.  Also, she worked at several other businesses in town, including the CloverLeaf Bakery and Safeway; and alongside her husband on every ranch where he was employed.

She loved dancing, country music, crocheting, playing cards, and looking at family photographs; and enjoyed hunting and fishing and, especially, spending time with her extended family.

Survivors include her son, Kelly Collins, and his wife of Sheridan; three daughters, Judy Yorio and her husband of Rapid City and Marjorie Mitrenga and Jeanette Douglas and her husband, both of Sheridan; sister, Ada Spear of Sheridan; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two brothers and six sisters.
