Phyllis “Margaret” Wimer, nee Upton, was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, on June 8, 1915.

She passed away January 28, 2009, in Whitehall, MT.

Margaret spent her life in Sheridan until entering Golden Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Whitehall in Jan. 2004.

Margaret was raised by her grandfather and grandmother Upton and attended schools in Sheridan, graduating in 1932. She then graduated as an RN with the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Class of ’36.

She and her husband, Harry, were married in 1937, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Sheridan in 1987. They had three children, Alan, now of Whitehall; Sandy Gray who lives in Buffalo, WY with her husband, Paul; and Jo Ann, who recently passed away, of Ithaca, New York.

Margaret was active in Eastern Star for years.

She was also busy in the community, volunteering her training as an RN, and wherever else she could be of help. She was in on the planning phase of the Northern Wyoming Mental Health Center and has always been an advocate of their services.

After working on the committee to start the Meals on Wheels program she went on to deliver meals for eight years.

She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and a very active participant. Her faith was the pivotal point in her life and she shared it in many ways, including being a member of the Anglican Cursillo teams in both Wyoming and Montana.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Harry and daughter, Jo Ann.

She is survived by her two remaining children, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She will be missed, by her family and by her new and good friends at the assisted living home in Whitehall.

The family will hold a remembrance celebration at a later date.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14th , at 10:30am, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 1 S. Tschirgi St.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be given to Youth Programs, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
