OBITUARIES - BILLINGS GAZETTE - August 28, 2001

Nola L. Jelly was born Sept. 23, 1914, in Fairbury, Neb., the daughter of Thomas and Rozella Smith.  The family moved to Sheridan, Wyo., where he received her education.

In 1933, Nola married Charles William Jelly.  They were married 55 years when Mr. Jelly passed away at Prairie Towers in 1988.  Nola remained at Prairie Towers until about a month before her death at Valley Health Care on Aug. 27, 2001.  She learned to play the piano at an early age and in later years played for churches in Sheridan, Columbus and Billings.  She and her husband were members of Bethel Baptist Church in Billings.

Nola's parents, one brother and four sisters preceded her in death.  Survivors are one sister, Hazel Nordgren of Beavercreek, Ore.; one son, Tom of Columbus; two daughters, Norma R. Handel and husband Ervin of Billings and Janet M. Bray and husband Russell of Laurel; six grandchildren: and several great-grandchildren.

Nola loved the Lord and always was a wonderful testimony to everyone she came into contact with.  She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Visitations will begin Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 18, at the Smith Downtown Chapel.  Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  A memorial serve will follow at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at prairie Towers.  Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
