A long time resident of Sheridan, Wyoming, Beatrice Adeline Skar Schneider, age 93, passed away May 31, 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Recently, Grammy Bea had made her home in the Atlanta area with her granddaughter Holly Schneider Gilbert and her family.
Beatrice was born September 30, 1914 in Brighton, Colorado to Einar Andrew (Andy) Skar and Ruth Ada Meyers Skar. Her early childhood was spent in Colorado and the family moved to Sheridan in 1923. She attended Sheridan County Schools and graduated form Sheridan High School in 1932.
On May 11, 1935 Beatrice and Donald Arthur Schneider were married at the First Baptist Church in Sheridan. They had two children, Lois Carol Ford and Donald Arthur Schneider II.
Before her retirement in 1978, she served as bookkeeper and receptionist for Kane Dental Clinic.
Beatrice’s husband, Donald Schneider, preceded her in death on October 30, 1970, as did her parents Andy Skar and Ruth Skar, her brother Edmund Harold (Bud) Skar, and a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Crosier Schneider.
Beatrice left WY in 1978, moving to live near her children and grandchildren in Lafayette GA, Boise ID, Danville KY, and Fredericksburg VA. Her home for the last five years has been with her granddaughter, Holly and her family in Mableton GA.
Survivors include her daughter, Lois Ford and her husband Robert A. Ford of Stafford VA, her son, Donald Arthur Schneider II and his wife Linda Grant Schneider of Naples FL; grandchildren, Robert David Ford and his wife Debra Ford of Lawrence KS, Laurie Ford Howard and Thomas Park of Stafford VA, Donald Arthur Schneider III and wife Mary Tweedy Schneider of Spokane Valley WA, Trevor Lane Schneider and wife Paula of Douglasville GA, Holly Schneider Stinnett Gilbert and husband Alex of Mableton GA, Chelsea Schneider Freeman and husband Brian of Orange Park FL, Diana Grant Clark Crim and husband Michael of Wailuku HI, Laura Grant Justice and husband Scott of Lexington KY, John Grant and wife Michelle of Lexington KY, Brian Grant and wife Steffanie of Grand Rapids MI; great grandchildren Michael and Lindsay Ford, Ashleigh, Emily, and Benjamin Howard, Donald Arthur Schneider IV, Rebecca Schneider Dodds, Shandi Gambill, Casey and Shane Tweedy, Trey, Elizabeth and Jacob Stinnett, Jessica Gilbert Isaacs and Josh Gilbert, Sarah and Zachary Freeman, Maddox and Mylee Schneider, Tori and Mitchell Crim, Emily and Grace Clark, Casey and Colton Justice, Josie Grant and Dylan Grant; great-great-grandchildren, William and Annabella Dodds and Sophia Gambill. Other survivors include: Sheridan resident, Jackie Skar, her sister-in-law, three nieces: Doreen Rice of Dayton WY, Carol Skar Machalk of Parkman WY, Paula Skar Jones of Minerva OH, and a cousin Mary Meyers Balderston of Loveland CO.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Wellstar Community Hospice of 4040 Hospital West Drive, Austell GA 30106.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5th at West Cobb Funeral Home, Marietta, Georgia. Arrangements for her interment in Sheridan next to her husband will be made at a later time.
The family wishes to express their extreme gratitude to Holly Gilbert and her family for the tender and loving care given Grammy Bea in her declining years.
