Peggy GEORGE Rulli 1914 - 2003 SHS 1932
OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - November 03 2003

SHERIDAN - Memorial services for Sheridan resident Peggy George Rulli, 89, will be conducted at 11 a.m., today, Nov. 3, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Sheridan by the Rev. Kevin Jones.

She died Oct. 30, 2003, at her home.

Born April 15, 1914, in Reon, Greece, she was the daughter of Thomas and Bessie (Cornelus) George; emigrated from Greece in 1917 with her mother, brothers and sister; and was raised and educated in Sheridan.

In 1933, she married Joseph Rulli. To celebrate their 50th anniversary, they went on a trip to the "old countries" with their children and grandchildren. The couple built a house 1934 in Sheridan, where she remained her death.

She successfully held various jobs in Sheridan; working for the Sheridan Press while claiming not to know how to type. A mentor for students at Sheridan College as the secretary to the dean of students, she remained in contact with many of them for decades. She also was a salesperson at Stevens-Fryberger while enjoying her retirement, working well into her late 70s.

The couple had traveled extensively visiting family members in Greece, Italy, and other European countries.

An active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, she volunteered with the Red Door and St. Margaret's. She enjoyed movies, theater, music, traveling and cooking, sometimes hosting huge family gatherings. An avid reader, she loved heated political discussions; and was known for her quick wit and honesty.

Survivors include her daughter, Tonia Burnette of Riverton; son, Daniel "Dan" Rulli of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings; and a son, Joseph Jr. "Joe."

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Big Horns, 1401 W. Fifth St., Sheridan 82801; St. Peter's Episcopal Church; or a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are with Champion-Ferries Funeral Home of Sheridan.
