ROCK SPRINGS -- Funeral services for Michael N. Petrovich, 94, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

A Prayer Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Vase Funeral Chapel where friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel on Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 8 p.m., and again at the chapel on Wednesday until service time.

He died Oct. 4, 2007 at the Sage View Care Center.

He was born on June 8, 1913 in Cambria, the son of the late Nikodim and Kosara Rancic Petrovich.

He attended school in Sheridan and Carneyville and was a 1932 Sheridan High School graduate.

He married the former Frances Poulos in Sheridan on Oct. 7, 1950.

He was employed as a miner in the coal and trona industry. He worked at Sheridan Coal Company for 17 years and at F.M.C. for 25 years and retired in 1978.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, charter member of F.O. Eagles in Sheridan since 1934, U.M.W.A. for 17 years; was a charter and organizing member of U.S.W.A. at F.M.C Local 13215; lifetime Democratic Party member; and a pioneer of the Wyoming conservation movement to preserve Wyoming wilderness.

His interests included spending time with his family, hunting, fly fishing, camping and fighting for the working man's rights.

Survivors include his wife of Rock Springs, one daughter, Stasha Sayer of Sheridan, two sons and their wives, Michael S. Petrovich and Nikodim C. Petrovich, all of Rock Springs; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

The family suggests memorials to Bridge to the Future, Young at Hearts Senior Center, 638 Pilot Butte Ave., Rock Springs, 82901 or a Wyoming conservation charity of the donor's choice.
