OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - September 17, 2002

SHERIDAN - Mass of Christian Burial for Sheridan resident Carmella Ball, 88, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan by the Rev. Ron Stolcis.  Interment will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan.

She died Sept. 15, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Born June 26, 1914, in Kleenburn, she was the daughter of Bruno and Francesca (Carozza) Panetta.  Before graduating from high school, she assisted her father in running grocery stores in Kleenburn and Sheridan.

Following graduation, she worked for several years as manager of the Sweetbriar Shop in Sheridan.

On June 16, 1946, she married Irwin W. Ball in Sheridan.

She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, sewing, golfing and dancing; and loved spending time with her family and friends.  A faithful member of Holy Name Church, she also belonged to the Sheridan Country Club, Altar and Rosary Society, and a bridge club; and was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Survivors include her son, Richard Ball, and his wife, and daughter, Debbie Powell, both of Sheridan; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Jean Panetta and Ethel Yorio; and three brothers, Walt Panetta, Joe Panetta and Frank Panetta.
