SHERIDAN - A celebration of life for Sheridan resident Peggy Miller, 90, will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Champion-Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan. Family graveside services will be held in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

She died Dec. 5, 2003, at Sheridan Manor.

Born Oct. 27, 1913, in Beckton, she was the daughter of Edward S. and Benitta (Dow) Townsend; was educated in Beckton and Beaver Creek schools; and graduated from Sheridan High School.

On Aug. 29, 1933, she married Robert "Bob" Miller in Billings, Mont. The couple ranched all over Sheridan County and in Garryowen, Mont.; then purchased a ranch on Lower Piney in 1956. She cooked for the hired men and worked in the fields with her husband for years.

She was a member of the Piney Women's Club and Sheridan County Cowbells and enjoyed riding her favorite horse, Poncho, until age 82. Her interests included quilting, gardening, irrigating, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Robert G. Miller of Banner; daughter, Barbara Bovee of Anchorage, Alaska; three brothers, Jim Townsend of Sheridan, Roy Townsend of Billings and Ed Townsend of Yuba City, Calif.; two sisters, Dora Davidson and Bernice Renie, both of Story; four granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
