Sheridan County native Daniel Dushan Novakovich, 95, of San Diego died March 1, 2008, at his home.

He was brother of Gordon Novakovich of Sheridan.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. March 29 at Kane Funeral Home.

Mr. Novakovich grew up in the old coal-mining communities of Model/Kleenburn and Monarch. He was a 1931 graduate of Sheridan High School and played football for the Broncs.

He was an Army sergeant in World War II.

He later worked in coal mining and was a member of the Teamsters union. He retired in 1996 and moved to San Diego to be with his son.

He volunteered with the San Diego Boys and Girls Club.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Milan of San Diego; three other brothers, Dan Phillip, Leslie and Gary; two sisters, Margaret and Lucy; and two grandchildren.
